Frequently asked questions
Which adapter should I buy?
Any Bluetooth ELM327-type OBD2 adapter works for the quick scan (from €12). For a full scan of every module, choose an advanced adapter such as the vLinker MC+ or an OBDLink: Klaromo tests your adapter when it connects and tells you what it supports.
Where is the diagnostic port?
Under the steering wheel on the driver's side, sometimes behind a small cover. Push the adapter all the way in: its light should come on.
Connection fails: “the car isn't responding”
The ignition must be on. With a Start button, press Start without touching the brake, or start the engine. Some cars switch the ignition off by themselves after a few minutes: switch it back on and reconnect.
My adapter isn't in the list
First pair it in the phone's Bluetooth settings (code 1234 or 0000), then come back to Klaromo. Close any other OBD app: an adapter accepts only one connection at a time.
Is my car compatible?
Every petrol car sold in Europe since 2001 and diesel since 2004 has an OBD2 port. The full scan needs a recent car (CAN bus, usually after 2008).
How do I cancel Klaromo Plus?
In Google Play › Payments & subscriptions › Klaromo › Cancel. You keep Plus until the end of the paid period.
I changed phones
Sign in with the same Google account, open Klaromo Plus and tap “Restore my subscription”.
What do “confirmed”, “pending” and “permanent” mean?
A confirmed code turns on the engine light. A pending code was detected once but not yet confirmed: often an early sign of a fault. A permanent code can't be cleared with a tool: it only disappears once the car has verified the repair itself. It reveals, for example, codes cleared just before a sale.
Can I clear the codes myself?
Yes, with Klaromo Plus. Clearing turns off the light but repairs nothing: if the fault is still there, the code comes back. Emissions tests also reset, so don't do it right before an inspection.
How long does a scan take?
The quick scan takes a few seconds. The full scan queries each module one by one: from a few seconds with a basic adapter (engine only) to 1–2 minutes with an advanced adapter.
Are the values real?
Yes. Every value is computed from the bytes sent by the car, using the official OBD2 formula (SAE J1979). In “Live”, tap “Show raw data” to see exactly what the car sent. The battery voltage on the home screen is measured by the adapter at the OBD port; the one in “Live” by the engine control unit: a 0.1–0.2 V difference is normal.
Are the repair costs reliable?
They are indicative ranges (parts and labour, Western European rates) from the open OBDex database, with the source shown. The real price depends on the exact cause: always ask for a quote.
Is the app available in English?
Yes. Klaromo follows the phone's language (French, or English for every other language). You can change it in Settings › Language.
Is my data sent anywhere?
No. Your cars and scans stay on your phone. See the privacy policy.
